<span class="userContent">Hello everyone! It has been a while since I've
written, and for that I apologize. You see, I've been in a rut lately.
I've come to that point in my life where I'm sick of how sluggish and
tired I feel all the time. I'm unhealthy and it is effecting my ability to create. So I'm finally taking the time to focus on
making myself a better me! <br /> <br /> What does that mean for this blog?
Simply that it is being put on hold to focus on this with full steam.
But you see, I'm inviting you to take this journey with me if you
like... or at least follow along to my progress. I still may post from
time to time on Bona Fide Boho, but for now my regular posting will be
done on my new blog... The Clean Loser</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Mmmmm... soup. It is one of my favorite things in life. Give me a big bowl of brothy soup any day! Now that we are getting close to those cooler days of fall, you may be seeing a lot more soup recipes in the near future.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This particular recipe I found on Pinterest (completly addicted to that site. If you're on it, follow me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyways, back to the recipe, I was searching around on Pinterest for a good soup that is easy and cheap to make. <a href="http://www.fresh365online.com/recipes/2010/2/17/chickpea-noodle-soup.html" target="_blank">I stumbled upon this sweet recipe for Chickpea Noodle Soup over at Fresh365.</a> It sounded delicious but I had a few initial concerns that I felt I needed to adjust for my tastes. That is the recipe I'm sharing with you, but please check out the original! Besides being an awesome blog, it has waaaaaaaaaaay better photos! I have yet to master the art of taking photos of food. I mean, I can do nice photos of things with and SLR (<a href="http://iamkeebler.deviantart.com/" target="_blank">seeeeeee... here's my proof!</a>) It's just digital SLR's take $$$... and I'm saving for a house. Got to have priorities! (and room for all my projects)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
Now my version of this soup is different because</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1) I like a good broth</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2) I need something more than just noodles and chickpeas in my soup (it's a texture thing)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Chickpea & Kale Noodle Soup</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(6 Servings) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
10 cups of broth (here's where you can change up the flavor, use beef, chicken, vegetable)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 tablespoons Olive Oil (I used this awesome truffle oil I have)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 tablespoon Salt</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 regular sized box of spaghetti noodles</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 cans (about 15oz each) of Chickpeas, drained</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 cups chopped kale </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Salt & Pepper to taste</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxrvfQ2-_G3S5ToEUOQvkdTprpa0EobSZ8z_nYEZiDeE8AKFuv1dHEVBuMGvRogcuIf2qXsoL2v3AoQD2xS0hTz7UeGbbsjW-rmLuI8jO7UoWttJ-_kwTU-t-RZE-Jh1f7M4yQPF-8TS82/s1600/SAM_1686.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxrvfQ2-_G3S5ToEUOQvkdTprpa0EobSZ8z_nYEZiDeE8AKFuv1dHEVBuMGvRogcuIf2qXsoL2v3AoQD2xS0hTz7UeGbbsjW-rmLuI8jO7UoWttJ-_kwTU-t-RZE-Jh1f7M4yQPF-8TS82/s320/SAM_1686.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
1) In a large pot, bring broth to a boil<br />
2) Add olive oil,
salt, garlic powder, and pasta<br />
3) Reduce heat to medium-high, and add
chickpeas. Gently boil, for about 7 minutes (longer depending on your pasta. In other words, go check that box!) or
until pasta is cooked through.<br />
4) Add kale and cook for another minute<br />
5) Season to taste with salt & pepper, then serve!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Added bonus to this recipe... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you have left overs, the next day the pasta slurps up all the left over broth and you're left with really creamy noodles. Add a bit of shredded parmesan and you've got a completely different meal. Yum!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

So it's getting close to that time of year where you need to start thinking about what you are going to wear for Halloween. I decided I'd help you all out by sharing some of the past costumes I've done that were a big hit. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some are quick & easy and some take some preparation. So hopefully
this can help to influence your Halloween costume this year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Pirate Costume & Renaissance Costume</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First off, lets start with the costume that took the most preparation and some skill. One year for Halloween my friends threw a pirate themed party. After looking through many MANY stores, I discovered that it is almost impossible to find a non sexy pirate costume. I decided to make my own. I first found a pattern that I liked. This is a pattern by Simplicity #9966. I made the purple outfit.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGXK-IaBoZAd3_XKpoGdpU-EZqZCdJqy-dzQG_DLntRoGLK9EewIhnbmAKxEkvsxRTzlMFuA6dmgsa6oKivVzjyYQf4VP5T0wJfv08PAlp0pS-ltFHahu6pf5USsxgogCaLqn1Fz6yamaZ/s1600/!B+4(6gQCWk~$(KGrHqF,!hsEzMS6Kl1GBNBE2iTMoQ~~0_35.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGXK-IaBoZAd3_XKpoGdpU-EZqZCdJqy-dzQG_DLntRoGLK9EewIhnbmAKxEkvsxRTzlMFuA6dmgsa6oKivVzjyYQf4VP5T0wJfv08PAlp0pS-ltFHahu6pf5USsxgogCaLqn1Fz6yamaZ/s1600/!B+4(6gQCWk~$(KGrHqF,!hsEzMS6Kl1GBNBE2iTMoQ~~0_35.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After you buy your materials you get to spend a few days sewing it all together. This could go really well if you are an experienced seamstress, or it could end up as a huge waist of time and/or money. Your call! I went for it and the results went well!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuE-UxuN00d4-bwa8_y2r7nZ8ZYwSRgBX1fGep9FPu6Aj9S-W8QVeQX9smzpZZeNvxUN86TnbTz4eDYTD6xqlzve5AebGdXGxDiC0cLOcwD_uygN_1KcmIhXEfwt8aJLW1DSjD4OlBBemK/s1600/379743_2638199439180_541872400_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuE-UxuN00d4-bwa8_y2r7nZ8ZYwSRgBX1fGep9FPu6Aj9S-W8QVeQX9smzpZZeNvxUN86TnbTz4eDYTD6xqlzve5AebGdXGxDiC0cLOcwD_uygN_1KcmIhXEfwt8aJLW1DSjD4OlBBemK/s320/379743_2638199439180_541872400_n.jpg" width="293" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used the pattern to sew the shirt and the bodice. Everything else I found from a thrift store and altered it. (2 skirts layered, one of which was hiked up in the front; a mini shot glass goblet; a pistol; leather belt; and a hammer holder from a tool belt as a pistol holder) I happened to have a lot of piratey jewelry which made this easier. I think I spent about $40 on this costume!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The best part of that costume is that I was able to re use the bodice and one of the skirts as a Renaissance costume as well!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLgyCDoeJ9cMD5gGVPVAnD2KyVrfQIC6GwdxxTFKp6XsevopwhQGXBVyaZIhsIWz_67uT6UrZj0o7v7UemKlKvdTEgSvRFyL9qwGny02M0pZdOSg5blRy_XJMT1BRY_zaNY5GUSrUitz_a/s1600/283885_4524826923688_74635950_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLgyCDoeJ9cMD5gGVPVAnD2KyVrfQIC6GwdxxTFKp6XsevopwhQGXBVyaZIhsIWz_67uT6UrZj0o7v7UemKlKvdTEgSvRFyL9qwGny02M0pZdOSg5blRy_XJMT1BRY_zaNY5GUSrUitz_a/s320/283885_4524826923688_74635950_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">1920's Black & White Film Star</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one took time just to find find black, white, and grey pieces and accessories. Which meant a lot of time in the thrift stores. The idea is to make yourself look like you are in a black and white movie. This was a fun costume and fairly easy to pull off. It just took time to find everything I needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP6jDFdc0CyCXNrlZ0U2pyb3wzjLeHJvuG6wmYXDB5JMqFJNZldiVyPP-_CNWHumQtZkBnHz2iJQh7-SKP4Z0Yg1lHigSyh0sLny6UlHakKOvd6FrFbqxgOptAKGyFSX4x8QOSyUAdHisq/s1600/1943_1070948858895_614_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP6jDFdc0CyCXNrlZ0U2pyb3wzjLeHJvuG6wmYXDB5JMqFJNZldiVyPP-_CNWHumQtZkBnHz2iJQh7-SKP4Z0Yg1lHigSyh0sLny6UlHakKOvd6FrFbqxgOptAKGyFSX4x8QOSyUAdHisq/s320/1943_1070948858895_614_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You'll need to find a full outfit that "goes" together and is in a grey scale color scheme. I found a white blouse, grey jacket, black purse, black skirt, grey tights, grey shoes, & black hat. I really wanted to find some gloves but was unsuccessful and painted my hands grey & my nails silver. I also sprayed my hair black and painted my face grey. I wore black lipstick and dark grey & black eyeshadow. Remember to do your eyebrows in black as well! This one cost me about $20.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Dirty Snow</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now this next one was a lot of fun. At this particular Halloween party, I was playing bartender under a black light. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYCqxoDqofjXaNDx8R-STe9xJwcEgDptaj4et7PTGCGB_z-ahZIW6TcoOb9LHpDsYmE-hh4n-cRGOCaCzE_jlGDKGtPrTA-dB_CUQhY1o11MuvLgQbhjAPG68Iso1nm5e_MSfbCud6bFEV/s1600/189678_1006755134092_2660_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYCqxoDqofjXaNDx8R-STe9xJwcEgDptaj4et7PTGCGB_z-ahZIW6TcoOb9LHpDsYmE-hh4n-cRGOCaCzE_jlGDKGtPrTA-dB_CUQhY1o11MuvLgQbhjAPG68Iso1nm5e_MSfbCud6bFEV/s320/189678_1006755134092_2660_n.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you can go a lot of ways with this idea, but here is what I did. I was wearing white fishnets with black fishnet thigh highs on top held up with a garter, white butt shorts and a white tank top, black fishnet gloves, silver jewelry, and a icy blue wig. To make this extra dirty I tied a yellow highlighter around my neck and had people "write their name in the snow". This was entertaining since I was under a black light all night. This was by far the funnest costume but took time finding the right white outfit. This one cost me about $20.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Nerd</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was a rather cheap & quick costume for me. It should be for you too if you stick to the thrift stores!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All you need are high water pants held up with suspenders, a geeky shirt, and some taped up glasses. The more mismatched the better! This costume cost me about $15. Easy and you can pull it off pretty quickly too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Zipper Face</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did a tutorial on this last year. This one was also fun because it really creeped people out. . </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIdoe7BjwCf_yC8DBY2IpAH83uPKiEuUuJ4SYHx6C73gkUZVClFNF65bfC_wCkSTyUKP2sAStpd9ou018p2r51Eq5V65-ZbVQYuVLvou6LjCV5A8bobRu0mcXF50IKVfcLpO9K_P1JAJ8i/s1600/375858_2713294796517_1166172219_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIdoe7BjwCf_yC8DBY2IpAH83uPKiEuUuJ4SYHx6C73gkUZVClFNF65bfC_wCkSTyUKP2sAStpd9ou018p2r51Eq5V65-ZbVQYuVLvou6LjCV5A8bobRu0mcXF50IKVfcLpO9K_P1JAJ8i/s320/375858_2713294796517_1166172219_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You only need a few basic supplies and some time to pull this costume off. <a href="http://bonafideboho.blogspot.com/2011/10/diy-zipper-face-costume.html" target="_blank">Better yet, I have a tutorial for it here!</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Fairy </span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another easy idea is to dress as a fairy. Let's face it, wings are cheap and they come in plenty of varieties. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGQM3F5_s1_nXV56lpMbg4iqP2aSdzVCar-_7WsbDXpVBxuDyRhwb5Xp_Ih6ECT5zu7cT6DFNgPXgvngO0cV111mosELRhbzem3tCeagJzYdqyl0z70YNxvzd94bt6HMxO7IPZVajDru_E/s1600/197900_1006755054090_2155_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGQM3F5_s1_nXV56lpMbg4iqP2aSdzVCar-_7WsbDXpVBxuDyRhwb5Xp_Ih6ECT5zu7cT6DFNgPXgvngO0cV111mosELRhbzem3tCeagJzYdqyl0z70YNxvzd94bt6HMxO7IPZVajDru_E/s320/197900_1006755054090_2155_n.jpg" width="199" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All
I did was borrow a dress from a friend and threw on some wings. Instant
fairy... instant & easy. The wings were about $10.<b><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Zombie</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Now we a</span>re getting to some classics. Going as a zombie is one of the easiest costumes to pull off. It's also super cheap since all you need to buy is fake blood and face paint.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG0iQptLW-tUX6EI7pjHeyqa3id0oRoUi3ZWIG4ctqDgx6_kYGQPq8fii3stBkss-o6YrVbTbgzi5AKYMHCotZdOsq4kiewiFTQYUMtQINu1y0FUkwj0L2dr17ZsNzBVsSGo03shcMGFG/s1600/13845_1265692447363_3278487_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG0iQptLW-tUX6EI7pjHeyqa3id0oRoUi3ZWIG4ctqDgx6_kYGQPq8fii3stBkss-o6YrVbTbgzi5AKYMHCotZdOsq4kiewiFTQYUMtQINu1y0FUkwj0L2dr17ZsNzBVsSGo03shcMGFG/s320/13845_1265692447363_3278487_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First you are going to need to paint your face so you can look undead. If you are going to have any wounds on your face, you'll want to do those first. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.miccostumes.com/blog/how-to-make-fake-wounds-for-cosplay-scars-and-scratches/" target="_blank">Here is a great tutorial for creating fake wounds.</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_bVMr-JtyaU" target="_blank">Here is a great video tutorial on how to do the face paint.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to get messy with this costume, so I wore regular clothes that I didn't care about. And after I got the face make up done, I bloodied myself up. I recommend doing this in the shower. I put a handful of blood capsules in my mouth and spit it out so it'd run down my chin & shirt like that. All I had to buy was the fake blood & makeup. Total cost was about $10.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Baby Hands</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you really want to creep people out with your costume with out a lot of effort? Then this is the idea for you! I did this a few years back and this costume is a lot of fun to wear.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglTf-sTtJT4r2J5VWuBGuEARdsnDaFYOVkV-csJIVQReAnwenYiEWRuA8GSBw6qS9e-MtKSHIcXzwAQrxdL2OkSEYcIEDWCJcvNM22C75qg680aTP_85nGhXng0IclHyrlijD_P6dPU_eW/s1600/156046_1740349233486_3252263_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglTf-sTtJT4r2J5VWuBGuEARdsnDaFYOVkV-csJIVQReAnwenYiEWRuA8GSBw6qS9e-MtKSHIcXzwAQrxdL2OkSEYcIEDWCJcvNM22C75qg680aTP_85nGhXng0IclHyrlijD_P6dPU_eW/s320/156046_1740349233486_3252263_n.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Get a dress or some shirt with long sleeves. You'll also need a pair of baby hands. You should be able to find some at a craft store. Or do what I did and buy a baby doll and saw off those arms! Them attach chopsticks our some sort of stick with some duck tape to the inside of the baby hands. On the dress or shirt you'll need to attach some material in the same color to make the sleeves longer to cover up the baby hands. Make sure they are tapered on one end to help keep the baby hands in place. Now stick them in everyone's face, drink you beer with them, pop some bubbles, caress your friend's faces. Get creepy with it! I spent about $10 in total on this costume.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope this helps you out with some ideas for your costume this year. I still haven't decided what I'm doing this year, but I'll be sure to share it with you all when I figure it out!</div>

You may have seen this idea on other websites, even on Pinterest, but seriously... this is the BEST idea ever! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Picture this... it's lunch time and you brought a salad to enjoy on your lunch break. Only to find out some idiot used the salad dressing you put in the fridge or even worse... you decided to add the dressing to your salad and it's SOGGY! Noooooooooooo!!!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The solution... put it in a jar!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcTRPVxLZoI9ADZyGJTT-gJksPtr_kE5F9LzlXgPVUhqNd_bPjeg1Lc0anjv1WpX-TcTSuAV8l78VAFfr-AX89aRMNynFlleZOkM-zZKa_ut8UVOnLiL5SNBNbX96Jwk0nUfYZjzj8Lguw/s1600/SAM_1663+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcTRPVxLZoI9ADZyGJTT-gJksPtr_kE5F9LzlXgPVUhqNd_bPjeg1Lc0anjv1WpX-TcTSuAV8l78VAFfr-AX89aRMNynFlleZOkM-zZKa_ut8UVOnLiL5SNBNbX96Jwk0nUfYZjzj8Lguw/s320/SAM_1663+-+Copy.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This seem like one of those solutions that should of been easy to figure out on your own. But lets face it, you saw it for the first time on here or some other website and went "duh!".</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, salad in a jar is super simple to do and you can do it with ay type of salad os long as you follow this basic principle.</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPkY4dt0q2cs7BU_u9LYVvTFNXHiIvC_U_gf6bWGkZQaQAkMMzdQFQY-dB5fbhAuGUKu0aUCFl7D1wS9HssOA3pA_GxKHGaJvJAs3vulB79bn_SrGFiV5Ob21xYzGh_yAdVwZSMekydqXs/s1600/SAM_1663.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPkY4dt0q2cs7BU_u9LYVvTFNXHiIvC_U_gf6bWGkZQaQAkMMzdQFQY-dB5fbhAuGUKu0aUCFl7D1wS9HssOA3pA_GxKHGaJvJAs3vulB79bn_SrGFiV5Ob21xYzGh_yAdVwZSMekydqXs/s640/SAM_1663.JPG" width="480" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The key is layering! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First, you want to put your wettest ingredient on the bottom. Which would be your dressing. Next you want to put in your moist ingredients. Such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, ect. After that you'd add in the heavy ingredients that aren't wet/moist. This could be grains, nuts, meat, ect. Lastly, your greens. Putting the greens in last is what keeps them fresh and crispy and not at all soggy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As long as you take that simple principle you can make any salad into a salad in a jar. The other great thing... you can make this ahead of time and it keeps in your fridge for 5-7 days! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, I love salad in a jar. So moving forward I'll share a salad in a jar recipe any time I remember to take pictures! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today's recipe is for a BLT salad. (Recipe makes 2 Jar Salads)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6 Slices of Bacon (or however much bacon you want)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 Large Head of Romaine, ripped into chunks with your hands (it stays fresher that way)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
22 Cherry or Grape Tomatoes (or however many you want), halved</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 Small Onion, chopped </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 Clove Garlic, minced</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3 Tablespoons Mayo</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 1/2 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Salt & Pepper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1) Cook your bacon however you wish. I prefer to cook mine in the oven at 375 degrees for 15-17 minutes. Less messy that way and I can focus my time on getting everything else ready.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2) While your bacon is cooking (if cooking in the oven) put olive oil in a pan and sautee the garlic and onion together until soft & fragrant. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3) Whisk together the mayo and the vinegar. Add the onion & garlic mixture and stir.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4) Once bacon is done chop it up!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now to layer in the jar. First add the dressing, then the tomatoes, then the bacon, then the lettuce! And you're done. Now go, enjoy, and be the envy of your coworkers stuck eating their soggy salads!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!! Did you miss me?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry I was away for so long, but summer is here and in Wisconsin that means you take FULL advantage of the warm temperatures & sunshine since in the winter all you can do is hibernate. Which is how this blog got started. I know it's not quite hibernating time yet, but I wrote a new pattern and just had to share it with all of you!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This pattern is 100% easy peasy. And it's for a scarf... with pockets!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMsUdvfgXJqcGfVh8-MHaPMsDHleu-U1C-UTnl7avoSpB-mc0lMhtVSdtiHK5Mtq9Upkx6C5dGe2izLPQmtrKbbtFV0BdpnlwaLtig1-0MAk5AiAnLxgzytsanphWarVqoecd9IDhpEXHa/s1600/SAM_1658r_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMsUdvfgXJqcGfVh8-MHaPMsDHleu-U1C-UTnl7avoSpB-mc0lMhtVSdtiHK5Mtq9Upkx6C5dGe2izLPQmtrKbbtFV0BdpnlwaLtig1-0MAk5AiAnLxgzytsanphWarVqoecd9IDhpEXHa/s320/SAM_1658r_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
So to get started you'll need:<br />
2 colors of contrasting yarn Worsted/10ply (the amount of yarn depend on how long you want the scarf. One skein of one color will be enough for the pockets, you'll want at least 2 skeins for the body of the scarf)<br />
1 set of knitting needles 8 or 9 gauge will be fine<br />
A needle to weave in ends & sew up pockets<br />
<br />
What you need to know: (click on the stich you need to know to be taken to the video)<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you've got your supplies and you've got your how to videos in case you get stuck. Now you need the pattern!</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUYaXK8wVRZ-10isCOlRDI5Cpw1Cy5FUdFwwSZFO7EDFRLJKJRnBF9GI9dkz3-zHbqceVRyBpUSoXZcX0XgwPZRnp7N9gy7yDVgU3M6EsY3Xtalq8h-9__t2cbBnDLQjg1gzyOiVKh22K/s1600/SAM_1660_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUYaXK8wVRZ-10isCOlRDI5Cpw1Cy5FUdFwwSZFO7EDFRLJKJRnBF9GI9dkz3-zHbqceVRyBpUSoXZcX0XgwPZRnp7N9gy7yDVgU3M6EsY3Xtalq8h-9__t2cbBnDLQjg1gzyOiVKh22K/s320/SAM_1660_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start by casting on 34 stitches. If you are using 2 contrasting yarns pick the yarn that you have the least amount of. Leave a nice long tail because you'll use this later to sew the pocket.</div>
<br />
Row 1 - knit across<br />
Row 2 - purl across<br />
Repeat until it measures at least 6 inches long (or long enough to cover your hand) Make sure last row is a purl row!!!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Congratulations, you just knitted your pocket. Now switch to your main color and add onto the pocket.Remember to leave a nice long tail of your pocket color to make it easier to sew your pocket together!</div>
<br />
Row 1 - purl across<br />
Row 2 - knit 2 together, yo, knit across until 3 stitches remain, yo, knit 2 together<br />
Repeat until you reach desired length. Make sure last row is a knit row!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now switch back to your pocket color (remember to leave a nice long tail!).</div>
<br />
Row 1 - knit across<br />
Row 2 - purl across<br />
Repeat until it measures at least 6 inches long (or long enough to cover your hand)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now to take this long scarf and make pockets. Take your pocket color and fold it up. Sew down the sides using those nice long tails you left. Weave in all your ends and you're done! Super simple! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a super easy and basic jewelery project that any beginner can
do. All the supplies you can find pre-made at the store. (I found every
thing at Michales)<br />
<br />
What you need:<br />
1 18 inch chain (the chain I got already came with a clasp on it)<br />
1 24 inch chain (this chain didn't come with a clasp)<br />
2 pendants that go together. I chose a bird and a tree.<br />
A pair of Needle Nose Pliers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicGFaYB3T1dOgsdE0QfMGz-1IDsCOkHK_H_TMWeu8dPCsiJytveaVFgOf4rlEUhPem_0JLwCg-xXxR6uHOo1JVOvd-qfzoegH2jmOm3NeRI6cxz_H9MQE_73elc7AKKr8tXA9ecKY_39ZB/s1600/100_5348_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicGFaYB3T1dOgsdE0QfMGz-1IDsCOkHK_H_TMWeu8dPCsiJytveaVFgOf4rlEUhPem_0JLwCg-xXxR6uHOo1JVOvd-qfzoegH2jmOm3NeRI6cxz_H9MQE_73elc7AKKr8tXA9ecKY_39ZB/s320/100_5348_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first step really is the selection of the materials that you will be
using. You want to make sure if you are going with two chains that
don't look alike, that they at least have the same tone. It helps to
make your piece cohesive. You also want varying length with this
particular necklace. So I chose the normal chain as the short 18 inch
chain, and the more unique chain to be the longest and to hold the
larger pendant.<br />
<br />
As for the pendants, again, make sure they "go" together. I chose 2
pendants in the same metal color with them same theme (nature). I chose
one small one and a larger one to help balance the necklace out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHMFj9s7LRHDHcxxktfZ_ABUVKj_ra9Q56ob0mSfmCk-ricYpAOVDSOtjG3iaPx7MwY-39AOoWIm404fF7oR2_K1z8nKSjTcthK_tzHU-AjLHNWQj8zlMDckGjwqC-ftlTWr85wSYaRvXr/s1600/100_5350_phixr%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHMFj9s7LRHDHcxxktfZ_ABUVKj_ra9Q56ob0mSfmCk-ricYpAOVDSOtjG3iaPx7MwY-39AOoWIm404fF7oR2_K1z8nKSjTcthK_tzHU-AjLHNWQj8zlMDckGjwqC-ftlTWr85wSYaRvXr/s320/100_5350_phixr%25281%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the short chain you're going to put the smaller pendant. This chain
should have the clasp on it. If your chains didn't come with a clasp,
you'll need to attach one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgK9yP5-btjBFadmY8ITqAjLmoDfh0JzramOUESezabxJEmat_OIQicd11MthMhz_rzbK7VQ80QIcgCDi5t8NWZAux2rpphUwh_ubhasQyIV1ELR9nARMqBIxjNbyZ-8-MQIiyAwRylKYY/s1600/100_5349_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgK9yP5-btjBFadmY8ITqAjLmoDfh0JzramOUESezabxJEmat_OIQicd11MthMhz_rzbK7VQ80QIcgCDi5t8NWZAux2rpphUwh_ubhasQyIV1ELR9nARMqBIxjNbyZ-8-MQIiyAwRylKYY/s320/100_5349_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you'll notice on the smaller chain by the clasp, there will be a link attaching the clasp to the chain.<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoc2z5E0BoYu_mdgf9lAgFsapf2Ujnn7YbN2kEZpDe0FmlHBlanU3v2pb5zXIqA3kAPnkHbJ08H7vwokBaX6n5ygTlFNGzgYCKIewNMODFPEpjp5UlreNFriZTP3mfVzqJTYrLjR4fYRC9/s1600/DSC06788.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoc2z5E0BoYu_mdgf9lAgFsapf2Ujnn7YbN2kEZpDe0FmlHBlanU3v2pb5zXIqA3kAPnkHbJ08H7vwokBaX6n5ygTlFNGzgYCKIewNMODFPEpjp5UlreNFriZTP3mfVzqJTYrLjR4fYRC9/s320/DSC06788.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On your longer chain you'll take the very last link and pry it apart a
little bit and attatch it the the link on the other chain. Do this on
both sides. (fyi... I didn't take the second picture, I found it online somewhere. I
could not for the life of me, get a good picture of a link pried
apart!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUHfxE_dDRs1DRBdWYQILt8Sm3ELsl7WIum_bmyFOFnlMJjhiqvR3AiXMjiCF9UciIE7DPGrNx3jURCgF8TnC8LAlmB3qkzqXBvwFfFPI8hzve1mhlDMfJWrC2gsnkUT3GDuFOtpTigeII/s1600/100_5351_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUHfxE_dDRs1DRBdWYQILt8Sm3ELsl7WIum_bmyFOFnlMJjhiqvR3AiXMjiCF9UciIE7DPGrNx3jURCgF8TnC8LAlmB3qkzqXBvwFfFPI8hzve1mhlDMfJWrC2gsnkUT3GDuFOtpTigeII/s320/100_5351_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the larger chain you're now going to attach your larger pendant in the middle by prying that link apart. And that's it! Now go wear your pretty new necklace! I gave mine to a
friend for her birthday. All in all I spent about $15 for all the
supplies. I can't wait to see your versions!</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-40092831847525105472012-03-13T07:00:00.000-05:002012-03-13T07:00:00.300-05:00DIY: FIshtail Braided Bracelet<div style="text-align: center;">
I love to wear hemp jewelry in the spring and summer. It mixes well with
metal and looks great with almost anything. Plus, it's easy to work
with.<br /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7XowiSXNrf6oTx-0gveXGN2F3grC2U2L9BXONBS1-vlfG1np32RaV42M_vBZQQNtXl-5qPm3kLhZnCswsWz1I_cdGimlTO5TwEiIWngNANtqwgyDkr9avCKbjuwox0mMLhvkwDqCdugHW/s1600/100_5347_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7XowiSXNrf6oTx-0gveXGN2F3grC2U2L9BXONBS1-vlfG1np32RaV42M_vBZQQNtXl-5qPm3kLhZnCswsWz1I_cdGimlTO5TwEiIWngNANtqwgyDkr9avCKbjuwox0mMLhvkwDqCdugHW/s320/100_5347_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What You'll Need:<br />
Hemp (ribbon, yarn, or rope would work well too)<br />
A button (optional)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You'll start by cutting 4 strands of hemp. You'll want the length to be 4 times the size you want your bracelet. If you want the bracelet to wrap around more, just make sure your string is longer. Also if you want it thicker either use thicker hemp or more hemp.<br />
<br />
Fold the four strands in half and tie a knot in the folded end so you end up with a loop.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Take the string on the farthest end and move it to the other side.

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
By the way, I'm not that good at explaining how
to do the fishtail, however I found a great pic online that I'm sharing
to help explain it better! Just replace the word hair with string.</div>

I have an over abundance of wine corks in my house. Because of this over
abundance I am always trying to find new ways to use wine corks.<br />

Have I mentioned before that I love bangles and polymer clay? This is
the third bangle I had made with my little clay experiment. I really
like the marbleized look that occurs when you do this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizaPSbcTxFxGLDIqxNJntQz5Ibwx3E0WR8NSbB_Sj0Nz7Cxvc36PPL0IwW4Y-IwQe57UZsL2pSVghpP5RigNkA2pyh8mEGXIfYYm9xFRZTZsSNx8deuNAWjtGksrV2kk9n-WO2Yu925EtB/s1600/100_5297_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizaPSbcTxFxGLDIqxNJntQz5Ibwx3E0WR8NSbB_Sj0Nz7Cxvc36PPL0IwW4Y-IwQe57UZsL2pSVghpP5RigNkA2pyh8mEGXIfYYm9xFRZTZsSNx8deuNAWjtGksrV2kk9n-WO2Yu925EtB/s320/100_5297_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What You Need:<br />
Polymer Clay (preferably 3 contrasting colors)<br />
Bangle/Bracelet</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Ek9G9tov_iDpMwSVKNOBY0YgltV5Lb-mPjLAWN6FhUHZA7dtbvfe1t4u7VWWKk66SzizIQLUDgJqivSgyln0S6qCYqlWjprEj6r8Jq2vZGfk5gII_4QX9rTO0AqT7nMxmzfbZTtow6vU/s1600/100_5280_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Ek9G9tov_iDpMwSVKNOBY0YgltV5Lb-mPjLAWN6FhUHZA7dtbvfe1t4u7VWWKk66SzizIQLUDgJqivSgyln0S6qCYqlWjprEj6r8Jq2vZGfk5gII_4QX9rTO0AqT7nMxmzfbZTtow6vU/s320/100_5280_phixr.jpg" width="311" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can see I took a thin roll of gold, brown and green. The two
toned gold & brown one is made by twisting the two thin rolls
together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9uBM9U5CvVXi0-IM4eVBeLpinf-cDbe-lDT9pNllsQl2uemMzW-2fWA7hMtWAvlmwRFq5PGqBztIltxiJBAaUbhWJRK2C4jwK4dtN11KadCdlZi6ad7n9SeJZ6iBPuYPkYbYwCtKQOACf/s1600/100_5263_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9uBM9U5CvVXi0-IM4eVBeLpinf-cDbe-lDT9pNllsQl2uemMzW-2fWA7hMtWAvlmwRFq5PGqBztIltxiJBAaUbhWJRK2C4jwK4dtN11KadCdlZi6ad7n9SeJZ6iBPuYPkYbYwCtKQOACf/s320/100_5263_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lay them next to each other and gently roll it out a little. Then fold
it up, twist it a few times and roll it back out. Keep doing this until
you end up with a marbleized pattern that you like.<br />
<br />
Careful though, too much folding and twisting can blend them all together too much!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHV-fUbfGmjGFP5-4Idq6tFyw8fv2FTctfjMSNptuuKSmWze6HSK4RkcEcjQ4RQ_6FwwHuWztEcRTQ3SxMhNKUvji-ujZ34BO9GDwvfSPXiYeG97xLCfWvs621ov8ig-puiZ7XnV7Ru2Z3/s1600/100_5281_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHV-fUbfGmjGFP5-4Idq6tFyw8fv2FTctfjMSNptuuKSmWze6HSK4RkcEcjQ4RQ_6FwwHuWztEcRTQ3SxMhNKUvji-ujZ34BO9GDwvfSPXiYeG97xLCfWvs621ov8ig-puiZ7XnV7Ru2Z3/s320/100_5281_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once you get a marbleized look that you like, roll it out somewhat thin. Then wrap it around the bangle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXEq2uqP2LI3K_iQq7L3VPnsYEdZfQFAEud24MqRKLCJ_g2ylIOkFQjmnbXiuk3eGR1j6wfvnXmbAnpb7QsbXJWJNOpn1mAVYE-w2Q2O0e1HTMlDdGDmUKyCoYmmy37MZnwFETPGdGELjf/s1600/100_5282_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXEq2uqP2LI3K_iQq7L3VPnsYEdZfQFAEud24MqRKLCJ_g2ylIOkFQjmnbXiuk3eGR1j6wfvnXmbAnpb7QsbXJWJNOpn1mAVYE-w2Q2O0e1HTMlDdGDmUKyCoYmmy37MZnwFETPGdGELjf/s320/100_5282_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This step is optional.<br />
<br />
Roll out a thin roll of one color and spiral wrap it around the bangle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

One accessory that I am forever addicted to is bangles. I freaking love
bangles! But every now and then I buy a set of bangles thinking that I'm
going to wear them with some out fit, then I buy them and realize that
no... I will not be wearing those with the outfit I intended for. Well,
these have started to pile up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguGHvVfctOw5Va6k9YTPxohdSXrE-rFLqUO70ERsCwTGpBXXFIOOZ_WKeq1ddEOf9jyj6FqxwLJLAC4Vo3BPqmw1IHQKZLzOZ8Irem0y8bUrFpWqP11Yw5nsVVmja2d0P6AleNgF1yV-Bt/s1600/100_5299_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguGHvVfctOw5Va6k9YTPxohdSXrE-rFLqUO70ERsCwTGpBXXFIOOZ_WKeq1ddEOf9jyj6FqxwLJLAC4Vo3BPqmw1IHQKZLzOZ8Irem0y8bUrFpWqP11Yw5nsVVmja2d0P6AleNgF1yV-Bt/s320/100_5299_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, to stop my bad habit of buying new bangles I'm instead going to
re-purpose them into new bangles. Tonight's tutorial is one of my bangle
experiments.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What you need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Polymer Clay (preferably 2 contrasting colors)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bangle/Bracelet</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdDfB3a08pgSCGZSyAry44hSnWW0RfnY15HdSxeQifULc9dzgnWAXsQ12dnGYTaCVYCnRwo-9VGipBhzTnT-woL1ONNlKzmf6wh9SyqdEDd-oDKUZ_nsb4KOX4WO8rx4nn16Ewx4mzcZKL/s1600/100_5263_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdDfB3a08pgSCGZSyAry44hSnWW0RfnY15HdSxeQifULc9dzgnWAXsQ12dnGYTaCVYCnRwo-9VGipBhzTnT-woL1ONNlKzmf6wh9SyqdEDd-oDKUZ_nsb4KOX4WO8rx4nn16Ewx4mzcZKL/s320/100_5263_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start by making a coil of two contrasting colors. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfhWzzKcsJLmCbHhpHnqj2Vp3qZklX05ZsfJ3hKOGSbSW-GfWzcNl2dYBMtrpNyaGjIvMQFBcwK8_mZlocIQqbmUDxqJCXVquL4JkRwLIZv9JFg2FKbejYMdu2UFZJJZGUqcWYBerRqWqB/s1600/100_5264_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfhWzzKcsJLmCbHhpHnqj2Vp3qZklX05ZsfJ3hKOGSbSW-GfWzcNl2dYBMtrpNyaGjIvMQFBcwK8_mZlocIQqbmUDxqJCXVquL4JkRwLIZv9JFg2FKbejYMdu2UFZJJZGUqcWYBerRqWqB/s320/100_5264_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then wrap them around randomly on the bangle. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I suffer from chapped lips all winter long. It seems that no matter how much water I drink or how much chapstick I put on my lips, they are still cracked and nasty. But not anymore! I've discovered the magic that is a lip scrub. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyTjq9fiZD4BrU8IkQ9KxQyERpZ6LgGXLhvEKqs3VqYR3OUBxMbqKU8hl3Fd90NHAaAYTwm6nENBjEK0wCBj5Ly4edZjD1shZXISQuetJ7BRqAU5310bUkOoB7nAteTJLIX_n-n1PF5-Qu/s1600/Image2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyTjq9fiZD4BrU8IkQ9KxQyERpZ6LgGXLhvEKqs3VqYR3OUBxMbqKU8hl3Fd90NHAaAYTwm6nENBjEK0wCBj5Ly4edZjD1shZXISQuetJ7BRqAU5310bUkOoB7nAteTJLIX_n-n1PF5-Qu/s400/Image2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What's nice about a lip scrub is that you can make it with ingredients found in your pantry and you see results instantly!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdSLzGN9qzOxkjpwdDnuDxjYyFRw8-uFRJtxE6fHOFOOVmLnaKvTiHVIfU17VHjN66zZKzySUJS1DkUbpf8289OP4aoA7hJWebtna_Pq-iXP77doe0wQ0gLnF6aHsfwLkmNl6XbrmtUT1q/s1600/100_5286_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdSLzGN9qzOxkjpwdDnuDxjYyFRw8-uFRJtxE6fHOFOOVmLnaKvTiHVIfU17VHjN66zZKzySUJS1DkUbpf8289OP4aoA7hJWebtna_Pq-iXP77doe0wQ0gLnF6aHsfwLkmNl6XbrmtUT1q/s320/100_5286_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What You Need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Brown Sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Olive Oil</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Honey</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Small Dish</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Wash Cloth </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So it's winter and you want to wear some lipstick or kiss someone without cutting them on your lip razors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiYqZWBh1vk5RvWIHon2xp68O_mhvNlu6xSIA8IRv4CYfi2sWssdEGs5iUM-mPPMjrrZSCvv_EkTOgGlOGR2Axr_KAemhO3c-CWzXL_87AAnVSzAmuaQHsNAkK_IMXAiM3qEvTvAvILGak/s1600/100_5288_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiYqZWBh1vk5RvWIHon2xp68O_mhvNlu6xSIA8IRv4CYfi2sWssdEGs5iUM-mPPMjrrZSCvv_EkTOgGlOGR2Axr_KAemhO3c-CWzXL_87AAnVSzAmuaQHsNAkK_IMXAiM3qEvTvAvILGak/s320/100_5288_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first thing you need to do is combine a 1/4 tsp of all three ingredients into your dish.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOAe2x15PPm4ReNns4-ntTKLQ6baZmTqMSaCUg384t_sPbF40fwDiVBx4LyO8L-RJ5Ds7qYiPj57wDJSCrjaMkAy7-GlOrd-k8DLkkkNVinJvbU2P6VFwgYVyW5TFUXEvCeG4if5EhvQF3/s1600/100_5287_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOAe2x15PPm4ReNns4-ntTKLQ6baZmTqMSaCUg384t_sPbF40fwDiVBx4LyO8L-RJ5Ds7qYiPj57wDJSCrjaMkAy7-GlOrd-k8DLkkkNVinJvbU2P6VFwgYVyW5TFUXEvCeG4if5EhvQF3/s320/100_5287_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then you're going to lightly scrub this in a circular motion on your lips. Try your hardest not to let your tongue touch it because it tastes terrible! Let this sit for about 30 seconds.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCnGxoel5Y5ZRH9q32gm7KVxzyYLMKYUOYuHBRMWTxFhdK6AMDpeiuphPQcM4UvAgQl451ZGoAf74o_Ua079yyNv0qXpfA1j17kfTaVaJh_oTtgtF0wrpFVv_cGcjxG4AS2GSRKbsL-QAi/s1600/100_5290_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCnGxoel5Y5ZRH9q32gm7KVxzyYLMKYUOYuHBRMWTxFhdK6AMDpeiuphPQcM4UvAgQl451ZGoAf74o_Ua079yyNv0qXpfA1j17kfTaVaJh_oTtgtF0wrpFVv_cGcjxG4AS2GSRKbsL-QAi/s320/100_5290_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then take a washcloth and get it wet under warm water and scrub off the scrub in a circular motion. Repeat one more time for severely chapped lips. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After this, apply some basic chapstick on your lips. You can also just put a little olive oil on a q-tip and use that as well in place of chapstick.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWY1JyUW-YDjxJhTWidMJv4ASF4g4HRDOJdGbvmMfYuiZO292mTo8i3QIQVS9V9BRBdCuJDo7MVuu2ccTitj9-lxWGZvkFmcjNbLpOxgG-lGf8X-t8uRgLKRjbbx04yC3TVAvx4iSiApU/s1600/100_5291_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEWY1JyUW-YDjxJhTWidMJv4ASF4g4HRDOJdGbvmMfYuiZO292mTo8i3QIQVS9V9BRBdCuJDo7MVuu2ccTitj9-lxWGZvkFmcjNbLpOxgG-lGf8X-t8uRgLKRjbbx04yC3TVAvx4iSiApU/s320/100_5291_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can repeat this 1-2 times a week if you suffer from really bad chapped lips. Most people should be fine with once a week in the winter time.</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-82147998316509917712012-03-03T11:11:00.000-06:002012-03-03T11:11:34.190-06:00Knitting Tutorial: The Basic Bind Off<div style="text-align: center;">

One of my recent creations are these pancakes. I like them because you bake them in your oven so you have to time to make coffee and other items while it bakes. What else is nice, is that it doesn't take many ingredients. And there is a good chance you have them all, right now, in a basic pantry. Which means you can make this right now if you want!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What you need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 cup Milk</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 cup Flour</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 Eggs</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/4 cup of Butter</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Apple</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a sprinkle of cinnamon</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a sprinkle of brown sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

You need to get a round cake pan like this. You can double this recipe if feeding a few extra people. Just use a 9x13 pan then.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Remove from oven and put it on your plate. This is where greasing the crap out of the pan comes in handy. If you didn't put enough in you end up with shreds of what was once glorious. Now cover that in syrup and enjoy!!!!</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-8446593337555856302012-02-26T22:14:00.000-06:002012-02-26T22:14:34.670-06:00DIY: Spiral My Bangle<div style="text-align: center;">
One accessory that I am forever addicted to is bangles. I freaking love bangles! But every now and then I buy a set of bangles thinking that I'm going to wear them with some out fit, then I buy them and realize that no... I will not be wearing those with the outfit I intended for. Well, these have started to pile up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmv-Ar4_gab9Qur55ypwHSwccCj61DEOdJOa5dlMQrGqgmf7H_wXp-stE28gTEui_N8jjtsBvCZxfpoeqkCvYmwZwcb67ZN13NuqF4PHYpSqD1TVIpXxgNpe1Uuox6Lvlmz7qbrWvNU95J/s1600/100_5295_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmv-Ar4_gab9Qur55ypwHSwccCj61DEOdJOa5dlMQrGqgmf7H_wXp-stE28gTEui_N8jjtsBvCZxfpoeqkCvYmwZwcb67ZN13NuqF4PHYpSqD1TVIpXxgNpe1Uuox6Lvlmz7qbrWvNU95J/s320/100_5295_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, to stop my bad habit of buying new bangles I'm instead going to re-purpose them into new bangles. Tonight's tutorial is one of my bangle experiments.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What you need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Polymer Clay (preferably 2 contrasting colors)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bangle/Bracelet</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-OIPp44q9dYHCuflDPKgWE72KPeDkqGwYztBtsLsyRrt2w6_bQcEYL_elJcqrM3RsOULSkvzcuP76rKPomRMriR6UaGVnnkM0Te6wbdYKvrqFT9J7Dva0XwgrK-vssIiICBWXnw_Qnky7/s1600/100_5274_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-OIPp44q9dYHCuflDPKgWE72KPeDkqGwYztBtsLsyRrt2w6_bQcEYL_elJcqrM3RsOULSkvzcuP76rKPomRMriR6UaGVnnkM0Te6wbdYKvrqFT9J7Dva0XwgrK-vssIiICBWXnw_Qnky7/s320/100_5274_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First start by covering your bangle in your main color. I chose a nice army green. To get out the fingerprints you can lightly roll over it with something round. I used a knitting needle. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then cover it in these coils. These are super simple to make. Just take a contrasting color and roll really tiny tubes with it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitdNR022xvPWxMyE6_8ExVBktJZuPbBC2YxQTIaYyypei1AtMxYe7HKtWJ66C4oFQ9oZ_kgS9sMvur4C1WhLfsMqxp5olMxUqFaxE0795uz4G2fTJ0e84ckX1Zk-9sh6CE1Xh2mUrYS_uc/s1600/100_5279_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitdNR022xvPWxMyE6_8ExVBktJZuPbBC2YxQTIaYyypei1AtMxYe7HKtWJ66C4oFQ9oZ_kgS9sMvur4C1WhLfsMqxp5olMxUqFaxE0795uz4G2fTJ0e84ckX1Zk-9sh6CE1Xh2mUrYS_uc/s320/100_5279_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then take the tubes and coil them up like that. Then place them on the bracelet. When you bake the bracelet, it'll make the two pieces fuse together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then bake it for the amount of time that it says on the package of clay. Easy peasy! The above picture is the finished project with two other bracelets I did. Tutorials are to come!</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-61701714954549846412012-02-21T22:11:00.002-06:002012-02-21T22:11:55.606-06:00Kniting Pattern: Gap-tastic CowlHello everybody! I must apologize on the delay on posts lately. I've been busy knitting and getting over a cold. But now I'm healthy again and to celebrate I thought I'd post up another knitting project.<br />

<br />
This is a fun and simple pattern to knit. I knitted this cowl for my boyfriends mom for Christmas this past year. This pattern is written by <a href="http://www.heyjenrenee.com/">http://www.heyjenrenee.com/</a>. And is available on ravelry as a free pdf download <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gap-tastic-cowl" target="_blank">here</a>! <br />
<br />
All you need is:<br />
2 balls of heavy weight yarn (approx 153 yds each) <br />
US 13 24 inch circular needle<br />
<br />
All you need to know:<br />

<br />
Join in the round and place a marker<br />
<br />
Row 1: Knit 1, Purl 1 - repeat this for the entire row<br />
Row 2: Purl 1, Knit 1 - repeat this for the entire row<br />

The above is what creates a seed stitch. You will repeat row 1&2 until it's about 15 inches wide<br />

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been posting too much in the past few days. I am currently battling an epic cold. I've been down for the count for 3 days now, unable to breathe out of my nose. However, today I have some energy & desire to share with you all how I've been managing these past few days. So I'm sharing with you my recipe for a soup that will guarantee to open up those nasal passages!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8y5w7t4TLrUrE7FE5OZx_LSfl38zfnF2lVv36u03hszE1brF33Hyh_eakFQhpwf3tLQb12oFHPLXPcwugA1x_Q4yOcZ3ctUItJ4ez80XQ8ZtaXbQwyZ0_J4r2MoyhHOD9d0zKvlYyM6Kl/s1600/100_5231_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8y5w7t4TLrUrE7FE5OZx_LSfl38zfnF2lVv36u03hszE1brF33Hyh_eakFQhpwf3tLQb12oFHPLXPcwugA1x_Q4yOcZ3ctUItJ4ez80XQ8ZtaXbQwyZ0_J4r2MoyhHOD9d0zKvlYyM6Kl/s320/100_5231_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This recipe makes two servings, so put it in a big tupperware container so you can munch on it as you feel like. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You'll Need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 cups of chicken broth</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 jalapeno sliced</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
handful of bean sprouts</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
sliced green onions</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
rice noodles</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 1/2 lb. ground turkey or chicken</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
soy sauce</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
onion seasoning or garlic</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
First you are going to want to make your turkey meatballs. I made mine a few days earlier and froze them so they were ready to be used when I wanted them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioPvjg2lA3jtg5yFavafnaiDarIAwK-p8BbvWpSQcgJliHPOw3E5yjYmY9Aseo32BhOApggZ87gmDNUD9z30c5ogHokzfH4PCJ7ijnr4fUgireSEiLKwIlQpvj74b8oxxUEDw6QhqK_Su7/s1600/100_5220_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioPvjg2lA3jtg5yFavafnaiDarIAwK-p8BbvWpSQcgJliHPOw3E5yjYmY9Aseo32BhOApggZ87gmDNUD9z30c5ogHokzfH4PCJ7ijnr4fUgireSEiLKwIlQpvj74b8oxxUEDw6QhqK_Su7/s320/100_5220_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Making them is really easy. Just mix the ground turkey or chicken with 1 tbls soy sauce and add some onion seasoning. If you don't have any you can also use some garlic.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvVjflc34HnL9qXYGgZJqeg46XizWXSUR1PAJiicW8Xu4Ct7V5iDg1oYwdQKGO1dpFa3KPARWTcbf-0fbdoVpJSbGKhBYCKBr2uLu_3mnum3kiStEJ2vYW6dWssEiZRmKD6CEudK3DJ7Rg/s1600/100_5221_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvVjflc34HnL9qXYGgZJqeg46XizWXSUR1PAJiicW8Xu4Ct7V5iDg1oYwdQKGO1dpFa3KPARWTcbf-0fbdoVpJSbGKhBYCKBr2uLu_3mnum3kiStEJ2vYW6dWssEiZRmKD6CEudK3DJ7Rg/s320/100_5221_phixr.jpg" width="175" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the onion seasoning I used. I didn't measure how much I used, I just add a decent amount. I'm sick. Gimme a break!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now that you've got your meatballs ready, you're ready to start your soup! Heat up your 3 cups of broth. You can used pre-made or make your own. I use this stuff.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaGqEGascsmzqbRRib5lrQcVhKy1sM3YFwDnMDOscatVqOAYQg4eVN43-a8MbXJso9twPELHNORLkYK8qBYl9NwMzZmG9EOMcwa_WQp8uE3V4uJSVH1Tl-sLUcThNr348cK3hUK1lkBJJn/s1600/100_5219_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaGqEGascsmzqbRRib5lrQcVhKy1sM3YFwDnMDOscatVqOAYQg4eVN43-a8MbXJso9twPELHNORLkYK8qBYl9NwMzZmG9EOMcwa_WQp8uE3V4uJSVH1Tl-sLUcThNr348cK3hUK1lkBJJn/s320/100_5219_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once your broth has started to boil you can add your sliced jalapeno. Keep in mind the more slices you add the spicier your broth will be. I used a whole jalapeno... this was super spicy, but just what I wanted!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlMaMg1fHqU7sFPaXQJojQ4ewJot0CQy9ce-RURtvSCqCqicL9N2rtC5U8qz9VYkVL7h4zEjldccJc6t3DgyuwOxe-IJ5DFFsFniIcvGYrEEC-WRLZR9L7kgoiF4-TroDgRM__yeM5IQaP/s1600/100_5222_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlMaMg1fHqU7sFPaXQJojQ4ewJot0CQy9ce-RURtvSCqCqicL9N2rtC5U8qz9VYkVL7h4zEjldccJc6t3DgyuwOxe-IJ5DFFsFniIcvGYrEEC-WRLZR9L7kgoiF4-TroDgRM__yeM5IQaP/s320/100_5222_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also you can now add your meatballs. Add however many you want.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyF4kcqUL0FCDJ-zSLnNLRT6ar4dy7myZKZ38MKQyFZHzfdQomVs2PUjJv-0e8MS_1kF6ocuL-bylR5TprYl06VFUAlWmW5STJcKsiH_yjHwbr2iLalfDzhfHwb2rMOaRJQ4FG5nAF5svT/s1600/100_5224_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyF4kcqUL0FCDJ-zSLnNLRT6ar4dy7myZKZ38MKQyFZHzfdQomVs2PUjJv-0e8MS_1kF6ocuL-bylR5TprYl06VFUAlWmW5STJcKsiH_yjHwbr2iLalfDzhfHwb2rMOaRJQ4FG5nAF5svT/s320/100_5224_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Continue to boil until the meatballs float.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSIDdrqYKk6Kl4mChIPv6UHUBjG9HYiPeYN679bA1NunQcyF0Gz1kt346Z7yV0aegjovl-K4ckNpdkqjDNV2ZI4kXnie5myDyxINNZiPP1PQb4f16OSEoLecfNWWQjpDjQMMbTXCHCwviC/s1600/100_5229_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSIDdrqYKk6Kl4mChIPv6UHUBjG9HYiPeYN679bA1NunQcyF0Gz1kt346Z7yV0aegjovl-K4ckNpdkqjDNV2ZI4kXnie5myDyxINNZiPP1PQb4f16OSEoLecfNWWQjpDjQMMbTXCHCwviC/s320/100_5229_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the meatballs are floating you can prepare your dish by adding in some rice noodles. THe rice noodles I got come separated into individual servings, so I used 2.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdnMr_icU2wid0_S6s20wt_RKrWSQum4zbEjL94eKN1_7hl4bVtg0Tt4c2dfvc3F6YlrkgCXr9vZ68LxsxNEV7O1azwvJYcFii8Mw1qrvll8t16h6njOixh8zZCoIsNM-TAR0MYhC1Onbl/s1600/100_5225_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdnMr_icU2wid0_S6s20wt_RKrWSQum4zbEjL94eKN1_7hl4bVtg0Tt4c2dfvc3F6YlrkgCXr9vZ68LxsxNEV7O1azwvJYcFii8Mw1qrvll8t16h6njOixh8zZCoIsNM-TAR0MYhC1Onbl/s320/100_5225_phixr.jpg" width="289" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then you can add the chopped green onions.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYociAeFtEaivVBShIXCtSPp4eLw7qtVGqjgvs1gHR7FjivrEP9_amavqZSXgJ6OarkIqX4A2cNu4drYK9BRhqVvQeKPzd4tNgI94lScF0ZE8brzxsKPG79FicV9h9giKk5MqKF8iWr51O/s1600/100_5226_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYociAeFtEaivVBShIXCtSPp4eLw7qtVGqjgvs1gHR7FjivrEP9_amavqZSXgJ6OarkIqX4A2cNu4drYK9BRhqVvQeKPzd4tNgI94lScF0ZE8brzxsKPG79FicV9h9giKk5MqKF8iWr51O/s320/100_5226_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then a handful of bean sprouts.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwlE7-qPJ61wD_dGcCDvN2rGG3C75P0LrAl4xCs1RGjteh2HCGikGvDr3qB-nhF_YKJw77yFzFFtJLyTi3YslJwDd2U_kA9YxRR-kMf0HgOJJD3gGqzuZlYgPZhb6GxlZSpMqSsktJQ4Z2/s1600/100_5227_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwlE7-qPJ61wD_dGcCDvN2rGG3C75P0LrAl4xCs1RGjteh2HCGikGvDr3qB-nhF_YKJw77yFzFFtJLyTi3YslJwDd2U_kA9YxRR-kMf0HgOJJD3gGqzuZlYgPZhb6GxlZSpMqSsktJQ4Z2/s320/100_5227_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then pour your broth and meatball mixture over it and let it sit for about 5 minutes. This will cool down the broth and cook your noodles. Eat and enjoy the ability to breathe!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I personally don't knit this way because it doesn't come easy to me, but this is another way you can knit. The benefits of this style of knitting is that is easy to learn this method if you've never worked with yarn before. This is also the most common way of knitting, so if you get stuck on a project it's easier to find someone to assist you that also knits this style. The English Method is also known as Throwing or the American Method.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yarn is "thrown" (wrapped) around the right needle before pulling the stitch through. This is a good method for teaching young children or people with limited coordination since you don't have to really have to hold the yarn in a certain way to make a knit or purl stitch happen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The biggest disadvantage to this style of knitting is that it is a tad slower to knit this way, but it's a great way to get started!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here is how to knit and purl english style.</div>

Such a long week, or so it seems. So I'm glad to announce that it is Thursday night once again! And with every Thursday we have another installment of our Thursday Night Unwind. This is a great opportunity for all of you to experience musicians and bands that you may not have known of before this post. Granted this could cause you to max out the space available on your iPods, but oh well!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqTQzT2j_B6O03qRoMUF09r5qC7BH3wVVCWSpwYlkCOIKsEv3AxFBPIqWUvGf3l9C5Rcxnt5uvKLUu7gSIMxg4Tk2_4SUrK_MJpv5daFoqmfEDHOd1z6T9mpnCS9UgMJi5eeH92-OgnWXp/s1600/caribou.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqTQzT2j_B6O03qRoMUF09r5qC7BH3wVVCWSpwYlkCOIKsEv3AxFBPIqWUvGf3l9C5Rcxnt5uvKLUu7gSIMxg4Tk2_4SUrK_MJpv5daFoqmfEDHOd1z6T9mpnCS9UgMJi5eeH92-OgnWXp/s320/caribou.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tonight I'm sharing a rather unique band called Caribou. Unfortunately, I'm not gifted at being able to accurately describe music, so you're just going to have to push play on the video below. It's a song of theirs called Odessa.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/aiSa7THgxrI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Next up from this group is a song called Jamelia:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/BhnsIH6nqJA?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And last but not least we have a song from them called Sun:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/euS2SlC68q8?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hopefully tonight's installment has increased your music library! See you on the flip side with some more tutorials!</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-44140072348111480622012-01-31T23:39:00.000-06:002012-01-31T23:39:07.412-06:00DIY: Photo Candle Holders<div style="text-align: center;">
So I decided it was about time I showed you all another tutorial for a gift I made for my family for Christmas. It's a lot of fun to make and I'm definitely making more! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw6vpo9Zn3pKzxDVSR_zqHEhCadV-8eorK14NqNJFJ0qmo6GKWl4eV6tjbDmIIo8nDoFvdHcQJmtjby4VoBQ1N5Q7Ex7dgIW4VX1xt1nHaomXWwhnsANMcpRBdySjbcKiDRsDIRotNHI5v/s1600/100_5071_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw6vpo9Zn3pKzxDVSR_zqHEhCadV-8eorK14NqNJFJ0qmo6GKWl4eV6tjbDmIIo8nDoFvdHcQJmtjby4VoBQ1N5Q7Ex7dgIW4VX1xt1nHaomXWwhnsANMcpRBdySjbcKiDRsDIRotNHI5v/s320/100_5071_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a super simple and cheap gift idea that is guaranteed to make
any sentimental person break down and cry. That is if you are using
photos that mean something to that person. You can always use non
sentimental photos, but I can't guarantee the tears then. Just
kidding...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What you'll need:<br />
Glass Candle Holders<br />
Clear Shipping Labels<br />
A Digital Copy of a Photo<br />
Printer</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq95OFKhHpZFiTyzwpC4NpQKl_jfV6NzV2fhYXODDQNumRFz3yoNEVcYWdfXbsTnNyA1bplrZ3p0C_8u2pdOZM3d_8HsRdr8CdG7dNymZYEdCiR752b6sXlUTydORPCA6V10R8zbe35oDQ/s1600/100_5067_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq95OFKhHpZFiTyzwpC4NpQKl_jfV6NzV2fhYXODDQNumRFz3yoNEVcYWdfXbsTnNyA1bplrZ3p0C_8u2pdOZM3d_8HsRdr8CdG7dNymZYEdCiR752b6sXlUTydORPCA6V10R8zbe35oDQ/s320/100_5067_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first step is to get all the stickers off of the glass candle
holders. You could just peel them off, but chances are that you'll get a
sticky residue. Want to know a trick? Soak them in a tab of hot water. I
literally put these into hot water, turned to get the camera and the
stickers were already floating in the water. For more difficult sticker
you may need to soak over night.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMMF0J7DwAYEQTchrIxMW9mJJ88gVtq0UK-cdgn-B5xlcmbBj52cUkKKv13mpOqOvibhOr1YJuuMlq-qsWym8lRSg3kxi0bFIaEj4gkAgOwLNqz26RjjCYCCTGfkgAe-q0rIt5cDw4FUXF/s1600/100_5068_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMMF0J7DwAYEQTchrIxMW9mJJ88gVtq0UK-cdgn-B5xlcmbBj52cUkKKv13mpOqOvibhOr1YJuuMlq-qsWym8lRSg3kxi0bFIaEj4gkAgOwLNqz26RjjCYCCTGfkgAe-q0rIt5cDw4FUXF/s320/100_5068_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While your candle holder is drying, print your photos onto the clear
packaging labels. I got the full sheet size so I could trim the photos
to the size that I wanted.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once your candle holder is dry, put the clear packing label with your image onto the candle holder. Rub out any air bubbles.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now put a candle in it and enjoy!
</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
If there is one thing in the world that I love, it's a good burger. It's always an added bonus if I can make it a healthy burger that actually tastes good. So I give you my personal recipe for my turkey burgers. I'm warning you, they are super easy and super yummy!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDc9dKBNNqKWR99UdE6nodJ8I7YIQOpbClJSM4igURcIQIEnMqQaw4OOlb7nHYgNNSh5lODwn8iM-QAeF9J_Uk8H3HRfNAqVeAuBn2isH-bn22SIeaXIg_CI_8E7SUHozlRU1BCs96Ey6F/s1600/100_5158_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDc9dKBNNqKWR99UdE6nodJ8I7YIQOpbClJSM4igURcIQIEnMqQaw4OOlb7nHYgNNSh5lODwn8iM-QAeF9J_Uk8H3HRfNAqVeAuBn2isH-bn22SIeaXIg_CI_8E7SUHozlRU1BCs96Ey6F/s320/100_5158_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I recently came into possession of a white ball of wool yarn, and I
thought to myself, "Huh, how boring!" So I decided I would try my own
attempt at dying yarn. I've never dyed yarn before so I started to do a
lot of internet research, and what I found included a lot of crazy toxic
dyes, all of which weren't readily available to me. But then I stumbled
across this site: <a href="http://www.pioneerthinking.com/naturaldyes.html">http://www.pioneerthinking.com/naturaldyes.html</a>. It lists a bunch of natural ingredients and what colors they make. For
the first time I was starting to think that this will be doable. And you know what, it totally was doable! In fact I entered this idea into a contest on <span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Dye-Wool-Yarn-with-Coffee-Tea-and-Turmeri/" target="_blank">instructables. Click here to Vote on it and help me become a finalist!</a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">Yup, I'm totally being "that" person right now.</span> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What you'll need:<br />
Water<br />
Vinegar<br />
Coffee<br />
Tea<br />
Turmeric<br />
Some bowls<br />
A ball of white wool yarn</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First you are going to want to unwind your ball of yarn then tie one end (or both) with a piece of yarn.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbmTGCEiA2Yk34LF5V-co0jPwAz5Na-EfDQb2Zm0DA2wM2N5n7zCiv9wfcqb2TKab93tLcIFgFOUYDcQicNaqfms54WrpYjvcECFGWPVvUOsAmT42Sqp8AHBB1WEOIsI8XML1ULqmxZQuc/s1600/100_5130_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbmTGCEiA2Yk34LF5V-co0jPwAz5Na-EfDQb2Zm0DA2wM2N5n7zCiv9wfcqb2TKab93tLcIFgFOUYDcQicNaqfms54WrpYjvcECFGWPVvUOsAmT42Sqp8AHBB1WEOIsI8XML1ULqmxZQuc/s320/100_5130_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you need to prepare the yarn to be dyed. You do this by soaking the
yarn in a bath made of 4 parts COLD water to 1 part vinegar. I used my
sink and 192oz of water and 48oz of vinegar. Yes, I measured it in case
you cared to know.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
You need to let that soak for at least 30 minutes. Now what on earth
will you do during those 30 minutes??? Why make your dye of course!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCF4Rt9j_bmNqCzHcXmyedwshMduq1TJPPn90vWUtX-4Almuk1rXWDWUsAs6NNIfkoYAgnR4HkfoRbzm5PPfDQ8D69EVE0GSl1rMCydzrWmyphF07UaoSMNuc4S0H1mx6zoTlPY7pvcAZa/s1600/100_5133_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCF4Rt9j_bmNqCzHcXmyedwshMduq1TJPPn90vWUtX-4Almuk1rXWDWUsAs6NNIfkoYAgnR4HkfoRbzm5PPfDQ8D69EVE0GSl1rMCydzrWmyphF07UaoSMNuc4S0H1mx6zoTlPY7pvcAZa/s320/100_5133_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
For the coffee dye: Make the strongest pot of coffee you've ever made in
your life. I mean fill that filter as full of grounds as you can! You
can even run it through twice if you like. The darker the roast of the
coffee, the darker the shade you'll end up with. I only had medium roast
on hand.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
For the tea dye: Again, you'll be making strong tea and over steeping it
as well. I used a fruity tea hoping for a pink color to the yarn, but
it just made that portion of yarn dingy looking. Oh well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
For the turmeric dye: Heat up some water and stir in some ground turmeric until the water has a nice yellow hue to it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Now let all the dyes cool to room temperature so you don't accidentally felt your yarn. Now that would be a tragedy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sZBTk0V2LNlNZHlNQM4HlU2fyJcCfQlswRCMY5GnBhb5wnI6_ufJMJiMh33dNajTywnWSswjMLibsQ181nbhZS0A577QYoDJbvzfxCLtshc5rm3_-IoO_IRCaI9D3_xOK3emFZ0je9Ai/s1600/100_5138_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sZBTk0V2LNlNZHlNQM4HlU2fyJcCfQlswRCMY5GnBhb5wnI6_ufJMJiMh33dNajTywnWSswjMLibsQ181nbhZS0A577QYoDJbvzfxCLtshc5rm3_-IoO_IRCaI9D3_xOK3emFZ0je9Ai/s320/100_5138_phixr.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now line up your bowls of dye on a towel so you don't make a huge mess!<br />
<br />
Take your yarn out of the sink and gently wring it out. It doesn't have to be perfectly done.<br />
<br />
Now drape the yarn into each bowl. <br />
<br />
Now let the yarn soak overnight so you end up with a great color from it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQKshX0aDQg8esMQIsi-okPIaX4p7980Z6Uu7y62VHDbvzfSrpl5LR9HLWpUAagjBBsDSOwe5UIOoe6th4YCJY2SuqulxPqqhlnfAxuGY7Zou2yLPRjF57irO-U6bQZr1k5g-p2DGzpKW5/s1600/100_5143_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQKshX0aDQg8esMQIsi-okPIaX4p7980Z6Uu7y62VHDbvzfSrpl5LR9HLWpUAagjBBsDSOwe5UIOoe6th4YCJY2SuqulxPqqhlnfAxuGY7Zou2yLPRjF57irO-U6bQZr1k5g-p2DGzpKW5/s320/100_5143_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Is it the next day yet? Hooray! Now take the yarn out of the dye and put
it in a sink with cold water and mild soap or wool soap. Gently wash
it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirJYntX_c5iexeNPzWDofT2p08kYvsyePSahJULHsW5FWompLEKaE5wQB9awTmS45QR9VwyDrO_kJw39UbdZ59YMXs3nZc2t3Zt6lneJUfDwzWMVQN9V8IPlcwTSjEte39JR-wOwlvGsfZ/s1600/100_5144_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirJYntX_c5iexeNPzWDofT2p08kYvsyePSahJULHsW5FWompLEKaE5wQB9awTmS45QR9VwyDrO_kJw39UbdZ59YMXs3nZc2t3Zt6lneJUfDwzWMVQN9V8IPlcwTSjEte39JR-wOwlvGsfZ/s320/100_5144_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Now do the same thing to rinse the yarn. Fill up your sink with clean cold water and gently rinse the yarn.<br />
<br />
Now gently wring it out!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhohYXNUfb9_TW2e3JbPap5rgZDVhZLr_ZcTry7_D39EM4GEN-kjm5WhKh_B9lm6NtZ7tAjHpmH3-gSLXi14mNEEHLgYiu9rrlPVCGlIKoY5UyoyyZXCcTBkSX4ZAP7GRUfX-CF5K0Dqr46/s1600/100_5145_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhohYXNUfb9_TW2e3JbPap5rgZDVhZLr_ZcTry7_D39EM4GEN-kjm5WhKh_B9lm6NtZ7tAjHpmH3-gSLXi14mNEEHLgYiu9rrlPVCGlIKoY5UyoyyZXCcTBkSX4ZAP7GRUfX-CF5K0Dqr46/s320/100_5145_phixr.jpg" width="142" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you must let it hang somewhere to dry. The colors will lighten a bit
as it dries. The top of my yarn where it's brown is the color I got
from the coffee, then the yellow is the turmeric (very pretty), and the
bottom is where the tea didn't really do much.<br />
<br />
Once it's dry, wrap it back up into a ball and go knit yourself something!<br />
This is what I knitted with it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJGAPLFMFcQm5tTgajz6UZl664G59nbuUY-qG5ROLYrrDuQp3PQ7NZ-MrnEUzCFXJbjxHzjD6qjFmyOuCEgwRJgJtop1Z2TMolVr9CmRA0RwiOIpJoxf8EelS_i-Y0ppFTGfK1-WYv2vv7/s1600/100_5181_phixr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJGAPLFMFcQm5tTgajz6UZl664G59nbuUY-qG5ROLYrrDuQp3PQ7NZ-MrnEUzCFXJbjxHzjD6qjFmyOuCEgwRJgJtop1Z2TMolVr9CmRA0RwiOIpJoxf8EelS_i-Y0ppFTGfK1-WYv2vv7/s320/100_5181_phixr.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can knit this yourself by going to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cabled-hat-14" target="_blank">Ravelry via this link</a>, sign in and download the pdf. It is a really fun cables project and I would totally knit a bunch more of these!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have arrived at another wonderful Thursday night! Which means we have made it through the marathon of the work week and are simply 1 measly shift away from freedom from "the man" or "the customer". Even better is the fact that my last shift before freedom is only 4 hours long.</div>

So that
makes me in a good mood. and when I'm in a good mood, I like to grove.
My ultimate groove music is by Bitter:Sweet. The music is very big band
and jazzy mixed with some smooth electronics to make a really fun genre of music that I have no idea what it's called. If you know, please share. The first song up for tonight is called The Mating Game (if you like it continue past the jump for more two videos!):</div>

I hope you all have a great weekend! I've got some more projects to get posted up soon and also some more knitting tutorial videos as well. So stay tuned!</div>I.am.Keeblerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11043334970082470582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-222870307358341431.post-55464384992342338152012-01-22T22:26:00.001-06:002012-02-06T23:07:59.862-06:00Knitting Tutorial: Knit and Purl Continental Style<div style="text-align: center;">
This is how I knit. I am a continental knitter. It basically means that you hold the yarn in your left hand instead of your right. This method is also favored by many crocheters as how you work with the yarn is similar to crochet. This is also called the German Method or Left Handed Knitting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is also a great method for left handed people since you control the yarn with your left hand. However, I am right handed and knit this style. It's faster to knit this way since you don't have to take your hand off the needles to knit. Continental knitters hold the yarn in their left hand, which allows the
knitter to simply scoop, or "pick", the yarn with the right needle. This is why this method is favored by crocheters since when you crochet you are always grabbing the yarn with the hook.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The biggest challenge with this style of knitting is the purl stitch, which requires a lot of practice to to comfortable and accurately.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here is how to knit and purl continental style.</div>
<br />

SO I've decided to make the most of it and start making some knitting tutorials! If you have a request for anything knitting related, let me know and I'll do my best teach you! This first video is a quick tutorial on how to do a Long Tail Cast On.<br />
<br />
It is my favorite cast on to do. It just looks really nice and is really sturdy. It creates a good foundation for your work and helps to give it a more polished look. It's also really fast!<br />
